Welcome to NOMAD for 2011
The Deakin University Rural Health Club
NOMAD's goals are:
- to promote health in rural areas and increase awareness of the issues pertaining to rural and indigenous health care,
- to increase awareness of the careers available in regional, rural and remote areas including the pathways, rewards, possible challenges and issues unique to these working environments,
- to encourage multidisciplinary learning and teamwork in healthcare
The club runs across Deakin's four campuses and plays a vital role at Deakin University and in rural health. We are one of 29 rural health clubs across Australia, and a part of the NRHSN - National Rural Health Student's Network. The club's constitution can be viewed here.
Any student in any health discipline with an interest in rural health is eligible to join - click on the Membership tab above for more details!

NOMAD lawn bowls social
Last weekend was the annual NOMAD lawn bowls social. More cracking than Crackerjack, it was a fun evening and a great way to meet people and blow off some steam after a stressful week at uni. Thanks to the organisers.
Rural High School Visits were a great success this year. Thanks so much to all who got involved and to Kylie for all her hard work organising this important event.
NOMAD runs Rural High School Visits every year in order to talk to local high school students about the importance of staying healthy and looking after yourself and your mates, especially in the stressful years at the end of high school. It's a great way to have some fun, make a difference and get involved in the club. We'll keep you posted for the next visit!
Check it out! Going on placement in South Australia or Western Australia? The Greater Health organisation provides heavily subsidised travel and accomodation for placements in these states. Visit the website www.greaterhealth.org
